Any ideas on a catch can setup? Any help would be appreciated. I’m in the process of swapping out my EFI system for the PF4. I pulled the intake off over the weekend and behold a light coat of oily crap running down into the heads. To be expected but never a welcome sight. Well, I’d rather not recirculate crankcase gasses back through my intake charge from this day forward. Any ideas on a catch can setup? Especially one that may incorporate an electric vacuum pump that would continue to pull gasses out of the crankcase. I heard GM made electric vacuum pumps for several of their smaller engine cars decades ago.

No expert here but before going to a catch can set-up I'd check to see that my PCV system is working properly.

Add one in between your PCV and manifold. I have mine on the firewall. I will collect a few tablespoons of blow by oil per season.

Yep. One photo of how I crammed stuff in, with placement as chewy described. J&L Oil Separator Co. makes a nice unit.

I have about 3 of the J&L catch cans on diff vehicles.
Be sure to mount them where you can get a strap wrench or some strong hands on the cup.
The O ring really takes a bite when tightened up. I have lubed the o rings with several types of lube and got no reduction in difficulty of breaking it free.
I am not complaining, but hoping to make you aware of this issue.
Since, I have added a ball valve and hose to the bottom of the cup. Drill and tap, seal the threads and re install.
I just open the valve and drain the sludge into a water bottle on the end of the hose.
I use clear hose to see what comes out and leave the bottle on the vehicle to prevent dripping.

I installed one as well, it does collect a fair amount of oil every 1k miles even with baffled valve covers... here is another mounting option. I wanted it in a place it would be easy to drain out.

When I installed the stacks, I couldn't use a typical PCV valve setup anymore, so I simply installed breathers on the valve covers. I quickly realized that that wasn't going to work after seeing the layer of oil mist on the covers, so I installed a catch can and routed my valve cover breather on the passenger side to it as a remote breather.

I can vouch for the Moroso product shown above being very well made and effective.

I did the same setup as Papa, just added a larger filter to the catch can.
