Well, it’s been a blast, but it’s time to let the Cobra go. The car was finished the summer of 2006 and it’s been rock-solid reliable ever since. I’ve run it at 130mph down the front straight at Summit Point, and just a tad over the legal limit on the Tail of the Dragon (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpOv10Thd78). The car performs incredibly well and looks good doing it.

When I built it, my goal was to do it right the first time, and to build it well. I probably spent as much time planning and pondering as I did turning wrenches and popping rivets. All wire connections were soldered and heat shrunk, not a single electrical issue in 18 years. The engine is a 351W build using a 1974 block that was modified to use roller lifters. I ran that engine at redline down the front straight at Summit Point during all four 25-minute sessions (I had a lot going on during my first time on track, LOL).

The car is in terrific condition. Paint looks almost as good as it did 18 years ago, except for a bit of typical road rash in the front – hey, I drive this thing!

I’ve been told by several people who know Cobras that mine is one of the finest examples out there. Scott Harrison, the president of the Capital Area Cobra Club, stated “Your car is exceptional!” Who am I to argue?

When I completed the car in 2006, I had about $55k in it. I’ve done a fair amount to it since then to improve and/or maintain it’s performance and handling. Easily another $15k+ in improvements since then. I have receipts for everything.

Price is $60,000.

Good luck with your sale, Bill! I remember this build from the ffcobra.com days....awesome job, for sure! I sold my MkIII around the same time you started your build. It was hard to let go, so I can appreciate the emotions you're feeling. Someone will get an awesome car, for sure!

FYI, the president of the Capital Area Cobra Club in the DC area said this today on my classified post there (https://www.capitalareacobraclub.com/index.php?threads/ffr-cobra-mk3-1-i-hate-to-see-it-go-but-its-time-to-move-on.14322/post-138797):

"Bill was beyond anal when he built this. It is THE best built FFR I have ever seen. The level of detail is incomparable.
I can't believe it has 44k miles on it. Not sure how he got Antique tags, since the car is only 18 years old, but it's a bonus to any VA buyer."

SOLD! A nice gentleman in Pittsburg just purchased the car. FYI, the car was sold for almost near asking price.

Congrats Bill! Mine went this week also...full asking price, sight unseen in 2 hours!

Don't know what's up for you but it's on to the next one for me. Since I complete my Mk3 over 16 years ago I've done a bunch of cars for others and it'll be fun to do one for myself again :)

Bill and Jeff, Did they sell from the forum? If not, where did you list your cars? I am going to be moving overseas and am going to be letting mine go soon.
Thanks,

Thanks,

I put it on the forum and 4 of the Facebook FFR owner/builder pages. First response was due to one of the FB group posts and resulted in a sight unseen full price sale with a wire transfer to my account within 2 hours of posting. In total I had over 20 inquiries (this all tells me that I probably could have pushed the price up a bit but I don't have any regrets).

The bubble that we saw about 2 years ago has deflated a bit and has stabilized but if you price it realistically it'll go. Good luck!
