Rebuilding 302 from a 2001 explorer. It had a cool remote oil filter adapter I’m considering cleaning up and re-using.
Anyone have experience with it?

Jbow03, I built my 347 from a 2000 explorer, a great source for a roller block 5.0/302. I ditched the oil filter adapter and used a Ford Performance M-6880-B50. I’ve included a picture to show what that side of a SBF looks like in the roadster. My constraints included the clutch cable, motor mount and header behind the filter and the oil pressure sender and power steering pump + lines in front. So keeping the filter in tight to the block worked best.201531

I wonder if it would fit. You will have to do something, either use the relocation kit that comes with the roadster or the adaptor Budfive highlighted. For the record I used both, the Ford performance adaptor is much better. The relocation kit is a pain and can leak. I would clean up the one you have and see if it works. Save $150

If you use the long tube headers the filter can go directly onto the block and doesn't have to be relocated.

RIGHT!!, Sorry what I said assumes you are using Jpipes. What Jeff said if you have FFR headers.

I agree with Jeff that the filter will fit straight out from the block with the FFR headers. With the full length filter (FL1A) I struggled to fit my clutch cable in between the filter and motor mount. If I had a hydraulic clutch, I may have stayed with just the filter. First pic shows the filter straight out-ignore the clutch cable as it’s not routed yet. Second pic is repeat from my earlier with the adapter and clutch cable routed.201617201618

I do not have any available pics at the moment, but I used the one from my 2001 Mountaineer 5.0. The only issue is the lower radiator hose gets in the way when attempting to put an oil filter wrench on the filter.
