I could use some advice. First, apologies for my ignorance. I’m very new at this and really appreciate any advice.
I did a test fit of my engine this week. Learned a lot and have a lot more confidence about how to drop it in. However. The hydraulic reservoir interferes with my steering shaft. The obvious thing is to get a smaller reservoir. I assume that can be done but I don’t know. Perhaps I need a different pump. Perhaps I need a different mount bracket. I really don’t know.
Pictures attached. Advice?

Ok, after a bit of searching I found that the reservoir should be easy to remove, just a couple of retaining clips. This is a gm type 2, power steering pump. I have asked Mark over at breeze for some advice.
I’m sure someone has dealt with this before…

Hopefully there is a way to use a remote reservoir w/ your pump. You may need another version of your pump that has hose fittings. If not this 99 Explorer pump may work for you. The picture on the box shows a pump similar to yours w/ an attached reservoir but the # is for a remote reservoir style pump.

I'm running the GM Type II PS pump and had to go with a remote reservoir. Works great.

Quick update for future builders. The reservoir comes off with just a couple clips. Earl's Remote Reservoir adapter kit should work just fine. Earl's Performance PS0002ERL - Earl's Performance Power Steering Adapter Fittings (https://www.summitracing.com/parts/ear-ps0002erl). I am following Mike Bray's lead and using this reservoir: Holley Power Steering Remote Reservoirs 198-212 (https://www.summitracing.com/parts/hly-198-212)
I will let folks know how it goes.

You could've just bought from Breeze, everything would've fit the first time, nothing extra to buy & swap.

It might be too late for you, but maybe someone else can use the info.
