Upper radiator hose

This is the upper radiator hose that I received with my Coyote engine. There is a white plastic thing ( technical term) and i dont know if it is there to hold a gasket in place and should be removed before installation or left in the hose and installed with the hose. Anyone else seen this?

It's a protector for the O-ring inside the hose.

Remove it.

Be aware the hose only goes on "clocked" in one position (see the 2 grooves inside)

FYI, it will probably rub the belt. Easy enough to make a new groove with a dremel so you can rotate the hose when connecting and avoid rubbing. If I remember correctly you want to rotate counterclockwise, but double check.
