I’ve been trying since March with no response/answer to phone calls, messages or emails. Frank (i.e.427) seems to have a good alternative and is quick in responding, which is probably the route I’ll end up going.

Yes, I’ve been trying him through messages on this site, through his website ‘contact me’ form and by calling the listed number, but no reply yet. He responded to a post on here about 2 months ago with pictures of his assemblies, saying he would get back to people shortly in the order they have contacted him, but still haven’t heard anything. I understand he’s had some personal issues but his last message on the forum indicated that he’s back in business now. Of course situations can change quickly and I hope he’s still doing well. Just unfortunate to not have heard anything back.

If I could do mine over, I would go with Franks’s mod and use the other attachment -vs- the NRG that I have. The next model version he and his partner are designing is slick, and reducing some of the length would be a plus as well. TJ’s is a very good option too. I’m glad there are a couple removable steering wheel options available to us builders. I still do miss talking to Russ. He is no doubt missed!

Thanks Doug!

Larry, We hope to be shipping out the Gen 3 Coupe offerings for our turn signal in the next month or so. We return emails within 24 hours when possible and keep our customers updated through the entire process. I had hoped to have the Coupe version out sooner, but designing an all new turn signal from scratch takes a bit of time. We've shipped out a bunch of Mk3 and Mk4 turn signals and continue to make our turn signal product even better. If you have any questions, you can contact us at:

i.e.427garage@gmail.com
or send me a private message and I can get you my direct phone #

Larry, I skipped over your reply before, since I'm not Doug and figured you were looking for an answer from him.

That said, our turn signal switch is all new, of our own design and we have no affiliation with Russ, his family or the company that bought the rights to his product. Right now we have 2 videos on both Rumble and YouTube that go into great detail regarding our turn signal. You can find them here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDlFwXKm54ofrLLFyvHCD-FMyRt6K1Ifo
I will also reply to your email directly.

I put the i.e. 427 turn signal in the car I built for the 2025 London Cobra Show sweepstakes car I just finished and it is top notch. I also put his trunk expansion kit and shifter in that car and they are all very good quality and easy to install!

Hey Larry, let me clarify and respond to you and the community. This will be long, so, grab your coffee, or tea, or beer. I mean, it’s beer:30 somewhere, right?

Okay, first thing, I am not building these turn signals, I’m just a consumer building a roadster.

As for my cheerleading for Frank’s new version of a turn signal, let me explain…

I purchased a Russ Thompson turn signal back when he was still with us. Miss you Russ! - R.I.P..
When I had got mine from him, I decided to modify it to accept the NRG removable steering wheel attachment. Now, the problem is not with Russ’ original version, or TJ Mountain works, or Frank’s for that matter. For me, it is actually with the NRG adapter itself. Now, maybe it’s just mine, some others who have it may or may not be experiencing the same issue? But there is an ever so slight bit of “play” or looseness when you turn it left or right. Each time I move the steering wheel to the other direction, it gives ever so slightly, it floats and then catches up and has full feel of turning like a solid steering wheel should.

Now keep in mind, I still don’t have my car on the road yet. However, I can only imagine how that little give each and every time I turn left or right is going to bug the hell out of me. So, I decided to add in a set screw to try and lock the adapter tightly as to avoid the subtle (1 - 2/16 or for our English friends 1-2mm’s) of movement. By doing this, I hope to make the wheel solid and it will also stop anyone from just taking the wheel. The theft part was a total secondary thought since I figure I would take the steering wheel with me anywhere I go, that is, if I leave the car parked somewhere.

Back to the turn signal steering wheel options.
I personally did not want a simple switch or buttons on the dash. I wanted a “today’s version” of a turn signal.

TJ Mountain Metalworks (Russ’ original version) is a must get! I want to thank TJ and more importantly, Russ’ family for allowing his idea and creation to continue on… Keeping this really cool modification and addition to be added into our builds.

As for Frank’s version, I like the fact he is making his version to work with or without the NRG and is broadening the scope to go beyond the NRG adapter. That was why I endorsed his new version.

Both of these versions are excellent choices to add into one’s build. As they say… The more the merrier when it comes to competition and options.

The one thing I do like about the NRG adapter is the option for a carbon fiber ring. I feel that goes nicely with the F5 carbon fiber dash.

Anyway, I hope that clarifies some questions that you or others may have. Both TJ’s and Frank’s are great choices to incorporate into your build. I’m just glad there are still an option(s) to choose if you want a turn signal other than a switch or a button.

Here’s an old thread on the same subject:
https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?45836-Alternatives-to-the-RT-turn-signal

And there are other aftermarket options, as well as this from skidd:
https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?24625-DIY-SolidState-Arduino-Self-Canceling-Turn-Signals&highlight=diy+canceling

And with that, I think we all can say that we miss you Russ, and wish you were here still amongst us. God speed Russ!

Hey Group,
TJ from Mountain Metalworks here. As some of you have found, it's still extremely challenging to get timely(any?) correspondence and replies from us. We continue to be absolutely swamped with a combination of RT parts requests, general fabrication for the rest of the business, installations, etc... I sincerely wish we could catch up because I know we're losing dedicated customers that are interested in the parts we're making.
All excuses aside, we continue to produce parts, averaging several turn signals per week. I boxed up 10 units this morning to ship out. We also have throttle pedals and dropped trunks in-stock and ready to ship. In between producing the standard turn signal, we continue to make improvements, including units that natively fit the NRG quick release, and several steering wheel bolt patterns.
We're also working on a design that continues to be all aluminum, but significantly reduces the time needed to produce the RT units. AKA, immediate turn around time instead of a backlog.

Every time I think we're getting caught up we get huge orders/jobs that take us away from the turn signals and other FFR parts. I wish we could just build these parts but it's still a passionate side part of our everyday business and not 100% of our focus.

For those that have been patiently waiting for us, I sincerely appreciate it. For those that have moved on, I'm sorry that we haven't been able to get more units out the door fast enough to handle the demand.

I continue to work through a backlog of emails, texts, and phone messages to adjust our build list with contact info, build specs, etc...

Thanks,
-TJ

Wow, I'd love to have a NRG quick release ready turn signal and not have to deal with modifying it myself .

I'm on your waiting to order list, so hoping you're able to catch up soon

I sent several emails and left a voicemail. I never heard back, I can't function that way. The contact tab on your web page contains no contact information. The phone number never gets answered.

Moving on

I kind of have to agree. I'll wait a bit longer because I'm still early in my build, but you'd think responding to purchase requests would be the top priority of a business.

I wouldn't care if he gave me an 6 or 8 month completion date, I just need something, anything to plan around.

Larry, I don't know if you've already sent your hub in or not. I will say this; I sent out emails to the first two Coupe owners on our waiting list yesterday. I have also spoken to each of them on the phone. I am working with both of these customers to make sure all the hard work we have put into our brand new turn signal system is going to work in each of their Gen 3 Coupes, just as we expect it to. Next month we will again include 2 Coupe owners in with that batch of turn signals.

We'd be more than happy to accommodate you. As I stated above. We've just sent out the first two emails for our first two Gen 3 turn signal customers. Email us at: i.e.427garage@gmail.com

We currently have a handful of Gen3 Coupe customers on our waiting list. We are mixing them in with our current Mk3-4 customers each month. We'd be happy to work with you and give you a realistic estimate of when yours will be in line.

Larry right now, all I would need is confirmation that you would like to be added to our list. We have 2 we are working on for this month (along with our current Mk3 & Mk4 customers) and then we have 3-4 others in front of you in line. I would expect we would be working on yours in October. If this works for you, send us another email at: i.e.427garage@gmail.com and get on our Coupe waiting list.

I will do everything I can to get your products out to you as soon as possible, with the least amount of drama.
