Hi all,

Selecting wheels and tires... I am looking to fill the wheel well as much as possible with a larger overall diameter tire. I am not a fan of too much of the gap between the leading side of the tire and the wheel opening on the rears tires.
Does anyone know the maximum overall tire diameter (specification) that will not cause rubbing for the MK4 roadster? Under general street driving, no track. I will have to run 17" min wheels as I have Wilwoods.

Thank you
Rich

I have 315/30r18 on my car in the rear - tire circumference is 25.55 or 813 revs per mile

you need to have a proper height to not mess up your speedo too...

my ride height is 4" in front (to bottom of round tube) and I had to raise the rear to 4.5" as to not hit the body over bumps...

this video shows the 4" front and 4" rear (which ends up being too low)

Depending on ride height and tire width anything over 26” in front and 27” in the rear is going to push the limits. The commonly used 17” sizes are <26”.

Sir Jeffski Knows Stuff!

Here is what 25" diameter fronts and 26" diameter rears look like on a MK-4 Roadster.
Tire sizes on my dark side ride are 255/40-17 and 295/35-18.
I'm the only guy running this stagger.
Most either run 17's or 18's.
Never both.

Agree with toadster on ride height. 4"X4.5" will get you over supermarket speed bumps. My tires are 17"X 275Front @ 25.55" & 17" X 315Rear @ 25.67"

Thanks for all of the info fellas!

So helpful in planning and getting the right look and function. I see that in both videos, the spacing around the rear wheels relative to the opening is pretty even. This is what I am aiming for which the 15" Radial TA's or Coopers fill that space nicely - can't run those with Wilwoods.
