When I purchased my kit, I purchased it from someone else that had already purchased the engine, transmission, etc. One of the items that came with my purchase was the Apex Drivetrain Solutions Hydraulic Clutch kit.

These are all the items that came with the kit: 201243

The throwout bearing looks like a nice billet piece: 201245

And the master cylinder looks exactly like the one being used in the Factory Five kit: 201244

The only difference in the Wilwood master cylinder I see, is that they added an adjustable bracket in order for the kit to be installed on the firewall. Since the master cylinder looks exactly the same, I was thinking of using the one that came with the Factory Five kit that did not include the extra adjustable bracket. To me this seems like a simple solution, but I want to make sure that I am not overlooking anything.

Has anyone used this kit before??

Should I instead try and sell the kit and use a kit like Forte's instead??

Thanks

I have a hydraulic throwout bearing similar to yours except it's from Tilton. I changed out all three of the FFR-supplied Wilwood master cylinders for Tilton's for two reasons. First, too many issues with the Wilwood MCs and they're not fun to change one the car is complete. Second, FFR supplies all master cylinders with a 3/4" bore and doing the calculations I needed three different sizes.

I have no experience with the Apex unit so cannot comment on it other than I do like and have always used hydraulic throwout bearings. I would recommend contacting Apex and confirming what bore that unit requires. My Tilton worked out to a 13/16" bore.

I personally prefer the external slave, if that internal throwout bearing fails you are pulling your transmission to replace. External is a 10 minute swap if you ever have a problem. I went with Forte's setup and it has been great after 3 years now and 6300 miles.
