Since I'm a ways from ordering my kit, and still trying to gain as much knowledge as I can before I do, I'd love to come and check a build out, or help out if needed.

I'm not metro anymore but I'm from Livonia, should have my kit this weekend. I think EdwardB is though, I would read his build thread(s) as gospel and go from there.

Not very far along but I have lots of parts.
Not a traditional build.

I'm in ypsilanti and actually just finishing up my build. I do recommend reaching out the great lakes cobra club as well. There are a few of us there with factory fives. Actually if you aren't far from waterford they are hosting a cars and coffee at high octane bakery on July 6th. Great bunch of people.

Does Great Lakes Cobra Club still have a location for Woodward Dream Cruise? If so, that would be a great opportunity to see many cars from a variety of manufacturers.

I'm interested also in the DC meetup details. I may wander down state to meet some folks and show the Misses some real cars. Get her excited at the end result to help expand my build budget. ;)

I haven't heard the final plans for this year, but the last several years we've had an all-day event for club members in the parking lot at the Comerica Bank, 36440 Woodward Ave, Bloomfield Hills, MI 48304. Typically 50-60 cars. No reason to think this year will be any different. We're just north of downtown Birmingham. Even though the traffic gets crazy later in the day, we're able to get in/out of the parking lot and cruise. A great event and we welcome visitors. More information about the club and events on the website: https://greatlakescobraclub.com/#aboutus

Mott JC is just outside of Detroit, had you considered going to build school?

That's not too far from me, a couple of hours. An old co worker lives down that way, he had an early generation Type 65, which he sold a few years ago.

Yes, I've looked into it. It seems like a great way to get anyone a little apprehensive on a build to be a little more comfortable.

Hi newbie here - sorry for jumping in this thread, but i just bought a completed mark II FFR Cobra and live in Saline, near Ann Arbor MI. Looking forward to meeting all of you and enjoying the great (maybe) roads we have around here.
Question for those who have built cars and registered them in Michigan. I went to register my Cobra at the SoS office - as I bought the car out of State and had some issues to get it registered. They couldn't find a vehicle details etc
Today I received my title document and it is registered under the "make" as a Shelby and nothing is shown under the "model"
Can anyone confirm how they approached registering their cars with the SoS or is this normal?
Thanks in advance

I've done five Michigan title/registrations. They used to be titled as "Assembled Vehicles" and the process was pretty rigid. But lately there seems to be some variation and the local SOS offices seem to have more control than before when everything was completed by Lansing. I can't say what's normal any more. If you have a title, annual registration, and license plate, you're all set.
