It's time to buy a water pump. I have the 427 Boss short block from FMS, standard timing cover. I have power steering. I'm using FFR's kit-supplied radiator fan, and Breeze's radiator fan shroud bits. I assume a standard reverse-rotation water pump for a 5.0 would work. I want to do this right the first time, so if money was no object, what water pump would you buy that works with a serpentine setup with my accessories? I assume I'll need reverse-rotation, as the smooth side of my serpentine belt will likely drive the water pump.

I'm looking at accessory drive systems from all the usual suspects, and haven't decided yet, but I think I can install my water pump prior to making that decision.

Thanks, folks!

Yep, should work for you. I have a model 1653 which is standard rotation.

If your timing cover is the one in your initial post, you may find your reverse rotation pump leaves a few of the bolt holes in it unused. The pump will bolt up fine and will work on that cover but they do make a slightly different cover intended for use with the reverse rotation pump. I took a screen shot of the two different covers together off the Summit Racing website. You can see the difference in the bolt pattern and coolant passage layout. Note the bottom one, designed for the serpentine belt, has no boss for a mechanical fuel pump.

Yep, that's cover that came with my short block combo from Summit. I think I might swap it out for the correct cover, since I'm not using a mechanical pump. I have a block plate on it, but I think I'd rather have the correct cover so the coolant passages line up better. Maybe?
