Upon initial fitment check the posts for the windshield point out at the front, is this somewhat average/normal? Do I just twist them in a vise to get them closer to being parallel to the mounting locations ?

Thanks for the advice.

I had to twist both legs and bend them as well to fit correctly. Take them off the windshield as it is fragile and be careful putting the screws back into the frame as the brass strips easily. I probably had mine taken off three to four times to shape them with a vice.

Do yourself a favor and install these babies, (https://fortesparts.com/product/factory-5-quick-release-windshield-brackets/) guarantee you will thank me.
I also used the brackets Mike referenced

A buddy , a vise, dremel, a table with a pad, and some patience. Be careful bending the posts, doesn’t take much. We had to open up the slots in the body a little, but still smaller than the cover that goes over it. Good luck.

Open the holes in the body. I've never twisted the bars to match the holes, sometimes the top curve needs to be tweaked, but not the bottom

Yes twist them. And bend them. You want 90 degrees at two points like in my crude diagram.

Also you may need to shim between the bottom of the post and the frame. Goal there is to have the w/s mounted to the frame w/ no stress applied when you tighten the bolts/nuts. Thin fender washers work for shims.

As Craig mentioned, twist the bars so they're parallel. Open the body openings slowly w/ a Dremel to eliminate contact.
Use body shims to take up any space between the posts and body mounts. I would recommend tapping the posts w/ a 1/2"-13 tap so you can just thread the bolts in when it comes time for mounting.

I did the bending and twisting on the bottom ends of the windshield arms, AND used shims to fill the gaps between the arms and mounting points. A thin one on the DS, and a thicker one (1/4" if I remember correctly) on the PS. I also drilled and tapped the holes in the arms for the mounting bolts. Go slow and easy on the bending, because the arms are brass, with chrome, and it's easy to crack and delaminate the chrome.
The body slots did not line up with the angle of the arms, so I had to open those holes up to align better with the arms.

Yes, please!

As far as bolting, you can tap the holes and use bolts, it's not hard to do and a lot cheaper.

Thanks everyone. I will tap the posts. Tonight me and a friend did a little twisting of the posts and have them lined up pretty good. I will just have to shim the passenger side maybe an 1/8 to 3/16 . It didn't take much adjusting. Slow and steady and I'll get this finished and right.

Thanks to all you guys for recommended tapping the frame for the mounting bolts! My body and painter guy was very appreciative.
Edit: Duh- not the frame, the windshield bracket.
