Hi All,

I’m wondering if there’s any builders on here for hire to put a Daytona together. I would love to do it myself but unfortunately don’t have the time or the expertise. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Cheers

Jay,

It would help if you let us know your location. There are pro builders all over the country.

Thx,

Henry

While the Daytonas do not come up for sale often, I would consider buying a built car before having one built. I think an estimate on hours required would be 500 plus body and paint. Not going to be cheap so I hope you have a healthy budget to work with. Looking at my build spreadsheet for my coupe due in August, I am at about $60K now with a donor engine, transmission, and IRS. Consider $100 an hour a bargain for the build from a competent and experienced builder putting you well North of $100K.

I don't charge anywhere near that. My last couple of Daytona builds were about $15-16,000.00 for just labor. $60.00 per hour.

Mike: Was I close on the number of hours for a complete build? In today's world, $60 an hour for the skill and experience you have is dirt cheap and definitely worth considering by the OP. We will see what his budget is as when DaBat painted my MK4 in 2014 with stripes, the bill was $6500. I would think at today's prices, good body work and paint on the coupe would be at least $15K?

About 250 hours to build a typical Daytona. Thats doing a standard FFr supplied interior, no radio. Does include everything else. A/C, insulated interior, alignment, A/c charge etc. My paint shop is currently at around $12,000 for paint and body work.

I reached out to Mike Everson for help last October. He knows these cars inside and out. $100/hr would still be reasonable given the results.
His painter does a great job. $12,000 is reasonable.
