View Full Version : Alternate Ebrake Idea
After looking at options for mounting the ebrake on top of the tunnel and getting feedback that there is limited leverage to set it I had an alternate idea. The 2003 and newer lincoln LS uses an electronic actuator attached to the rear cables that could be placed anywhere. Has anyone tried one of these on a build yet?

how does it work? is it just a button?
Yes the lincoln has a push button next to the headlight switch. It uses all sorts of interlocks that automatically release it if you put it in gear etc but I'm thinking I could set it up with a simple two position toggle. Here is what it looks like

For what it's worth, this is the ebrake on my GTM. SPAL linear actuator run via power window switch. Seems like it works OK.

I have this on my daily driver (VW CC) and it seems to work pretty good.

The pull is about 4" or so (need to measure again) with a max of 100 lbs of force. You can get them is all kinds of lengths (4",6",8",10"). I'm planning to use the switch to control the pull ,,, but there are also controllers available.

Thank's Fred. I ordered the four inch unit, It's going to mount along side the trans tail shaft with plenty of room. I think I will order the programable switch, what's another $50.00 on A coupe right. Also Speedway had about the best price at $99.00.

I forgot to mention,,,, the pulls that attached to the actuator, guides and cables are from Lokar. Good luck with it.

And if the toggle switch is preferred, here is one much better than the one at Speedway:

With the Spal switch assy you can program how far it pulls and and how much it pushes also it can be set to actuate with the ign switch.
