Hi,

Background info first, but I haven't seen anything quite like this in forums yet.

Using Kleiner rear QJ threaded rod and front Metro Molded grommet mods. I currently have the horseshoe brackets on but will be removing them
Body had initial trim at FF
Windshield not installed yet
Door bottom aluminum not installed
3/4 “ spacers on tubing near radiator and front QJ bolts and centered perfectly
Alignment and ride height done

I trimmed the roll on both dash and rear cockpit then finally fitted the body without bulb seal and was getting 3/8in from door tab. Dash has plenty of cowl gap. I added the bulb seal and put body back on and realized I needed to trim aluminum on trunk lower lip and trunk side at the rear, as It was inhibiting forward movement with seal on.

After trimming aluminum, and installing QJ bolt front and back, I’m now back to 3/8 on door tab I’m within 1/16 of an inch difference from shock mount to lip of body. So, it looks like the body is where it should be.
DS 17 3/8” PS 17 5/16”

I mounted the hood and trunk. They both look like they will work fine with some trimming and adjustments.

I mounted the P Door and it also looks fine with some trimming. But did notice it looked like the curve was off until I pushed it all the way in.
The issue is on the driver’s door. For one it appears the opening is pinched a bit at the top but I can push it in the opening. That seems to indicate the body position has changed.

The major issue is it looks like the curve on the front of the door is sharper than the curve on the body. It and is out about 3/8 of an inch from body to door edge. I’m kind of at a loss on how this can be corrected.

I didn’t want to start trimming anything until I know the body is in the correct position. Will this take care of itself once I trim the door, so it goes into the opening smoothly?

Looking forward to your expert advice!

Drivers door are notorious for being out of wack. You need to make sure the body is in its final mounting spot and then go at the drivers door. It will come down to needing lots of filler to make it right. Plenty of threads on here documenting this.

You're not close on the door fitment. In the middle photo, you can see the top of the door needs to go in, and up some. Looks about like most do

Your door is too low and the bottom is too far in. But that won’t fix it because the body and door profiles don’t match…never have…that’s where bodywork comes in

Put a straight edge
On the body just in front of the door and the issue will be obvious. The body sinks in just before the door opening making it look like the door is sticking out. I have to fill that area on every build I do.

So it sounds like I go ahead and do the trimming to fit the door in opening as well as I can then plan on doing body work so the door profile matches the body profile?
