This a 4-day compilation of events that took place May 16-19 2024 in and around Ely Nevada during the Nevada Open Road Challenge.

Target speed: 130 mph
Lower limit: 100 mph
Upper limit: 165 mph

The car is a Factory Five Gen III Type 65 serial #17, assembled by me and California titled in 2017.
The car has over 21,000 miles on it.

Engine: Ford 302 Boss block, B-cam, 345 hp
Transmission: TKO600 0.82 5th gear
Differential: 2015 Mustang IRS 3.15
Tires: BFG Rival S 1.5

Southbound time variance (secs) -6.2343
Northbound time variance (secs) 6.2010
Cumulative time variance 0.0332

1st place 130 mph class
1st place Grand Sport group
1st place Basic Timing category

I think this is excellent documentation of the capability and performance of the Type 65 Coupe on the open road.

289ci was doing this with carburetors, point ignitions and four speeds back in the day. The BP and Trans Am classes were full of 5.0 ltr engines. SBFs did Indy and Lemans as well. Maybe they were "bigger horses" back them.

Part of it is that the event is between 4000 and 5500 feet above sea level.

I have experienced that at Castle Rock and the "Springs".
Good application for ram air. My race bike added 7hp to 125hp at 150MPH. Screen for feathers.
