Just got back from a day at Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale, Arizona. I saw quite a few FF's and one went for $50K. There were two competitors there with multiple cars lined up. I did notice on at least three of the FF's that there were small cracks in the paint on the scoop. Mostly this was at the front corners but I also saw some in the middle of the front end of the scoop. The paint jobs looked perfect otherwise. Is this a common thread or just coincidence?

First time ever, I have heard of that happening. Very odd that you saw this on all three of them? Were they the molded scoops or the rivet on type? Might be from flexing over time. Some paints can flex a little without cracking, so it would be interesting to know what paint was used. The front corners could also a bit of paint build up, so perhaps the thickness of it in those areas played a role as well.

I didn't get the opportunity to talk to any of the owners so the paint used will remain a mystery. I saw no rivets so I assume the scoops were the molded variety.

I went Weds and saw a lot of "Cobras". The FFR roadsters I saw were pretty well built and the paint/bodywork looked good to me. I must admit I may not have been inspecting the hood scoop area for cracks very carefully but I didn't notice anything obvious. You must have a keen eye. I was more interested in the setups and variants from the normal builds.

The most surprizing thing to me was the CSX builds that were there and how that is really going to confuse the average car person. Now there are authorized "Cobras" with fiberglass bodies. I didn't know that until I went to the auction. I have never seen so many kit car roadsters of different varieties. So I learned something.

I love it that FFR builds such a quality product. It really shows out there. Even the dealers I spoke with from other brands did not have anything bad to say about FFRs. WEK.

I saw it mentioned on the FFCars website this am, that one of the builders managed 60k for his.

I assumed the CSKs were metal bodies at first too. Had to tap on the hood and look closely underneath to discover the fiberglass. I'm not normally so discerning. I think the first one must have just caught my eye and I looked closer at the next couple. They were tiny cracks!
