Hello,

My Cobra does not seem to want to brake well; nose does not pitch forward at all, and feels as if the car is actually braking from the rear.. bit scary.

Getting under the hood and doing some research on the proportioning valve, I noticed that I *think* my system is set up backwards.

Can anyone help confirm this for me, please? The valve OUT is going to the master cylinder, and the IN is heading toward the rear brakes. I think this is wrong?

Please see attach pics.

Best,

David NY

If the assumption is brake fluid flows FROM master cylinder TO the calipers, I'd say it's backwards and needs to be flipped. Might be worth having a second set of eyes inspect the entire brake system.

I helped a friend put a proportioning valve on his Fiero (Pontiac is coming back!). It has 5 ports to decode that are not immediately intuitive. And the Fiero brake system uses a mishmash of flair and bubble fittings of various sizes and standards, some easy to get, some requiring a trip to the junk yard to make standard to obscure fitting couplers. So, take solace in that your fix is easy.

There is lots of info on the internet on how to adjust the proportioning valve.

That certainly would appear wrong. Also this fella put one on in this video, and he plumbed as you would expect, from the MC to the "IN" port and then from the "OUT" port to the rear brakes.

Your valve looks very similar/identical to a valve sold by JEGS - https://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/63022/10002/-1

Their instructions note that the "In" side is connected to the master cylinder and the "Out" goes to the brakes - opposite of what you have.
