Ok. So i already have another thread going about transmission mounting but heres the story. While my 351w is at the machine shop they gave me an old block that i could use to mock up with. So, I've got the block sitting on the frame where it should be but as you can see from the pics, the engine has to go lower so that the headers line up with the cut out on body where i bolt the sidepipes to. At the moment they are way too high. Any suggestions ?
Thanks

Look like incorrect engine mounts.

Factory Five supplies Energy Suspension motor mounts when ordered with the kit. My 347 small block Mk4 build came with Energy Suspension 4-1124G, which included the transmission mount. I think your 351W uses the same mounts. But I'd confirm before buying. Should get you in the ballpark though.

Ok. Thanks. I'll check that out

Jeff and Paul (Edwardb) are two of the most knowledgeable fellows on this forum.
Other fellows that are equally amazing regarding advice are 65CobraDude (Henry), Mike Everson & Erik Treves.
If any of these guys give you advice it will be based on first hand knowledge of these cars.
Jeff, Paul & Henry were my go to guys when I'd get stuck.
Erik I met years ago at the Hot Rod Power Tour when he was showcasing his Black Mamba Build.

The Energy Suspension 4-1124G engine and transmission mounts that Paul "edwardb" mentioned will work for a 351W. I think using these correct engine AND trans mounts will solve the transmission interference issue you mentioned in another post.

Moving on to the header fit...I think you have another problem going on there. I recall from your earlier posts that you bought this car without an engine and trans and determined that it was originally built with a 5.0/302. If you are trying to use the same headers that were on that engine they WIL NOT work with a 351. The 5.0/302 and 351 headers are not the same and although they will bolt on to the heads due to the higher deck of the 351 they will not exit the body in the right location. FFR headers for a 351 will be required.

Thanks Jeff.
I do already have the energy suspension transmission mount so I'll just need the engine mounts. I'll get on that .
So yes, you are right. I bought the car without engine and transmission and nothing engine related came with the car. I bought the headers from a fellow ff enthusiast who said they were 351w headers. I'm wondering if they are in fact 302 headers. One of the guys on a Facebook group said that the length of mine point towards them being 302's. The 351w ones should be shorter. What i can't get my head around is that if the deck is higher on the 351, shouldn't the headers be longer than the 302's ?

When installed in the car the header mating surface on the heads of a 351 vs 302 are both higher up and farther outboard. This means that to end up at the same point in the exhaust cutout in the body the length and angle of the header tubes are different.

Factory Five sent me two sets of engine mounts for the 351W and did not want me to return the extra, I'd be happy to send them to you if you PM your address.
