I came across this car on another form and could help to think that this would look amamzing if FF could tweek it and make it the next 818! I don't know if we are allowed to link websites, but check it out!
Mods, if linking is not allowed please delete the link.

If SOPA/PIPA gets passed you won't be able to link.

Interesting car. Kind of like a hybrid Elise that doesn't look silly *cough* Tesla *cough*. However, Dave does not want to do another replica. He wants the 818 to stand on its own as an example of what FFR is capable of on their own and, quote, "Make good on a 40 year old promise."

Ya I understand he dosn't want to "copy" it, but some of the designs that won looked horrible, and the model he posted up dosn't look to appealing. I just liked the sleek looks of the artega.

Check out the threads, "Design Model - O's ..."(page 14 has the latest design I think) and "Vantage Design Project."

Way out of my range too.

Automotive Art is rarely cheap, right?

http://gas2.org/2011/03/10/the-artega-se-a-german-tesla-at-twice-the-cost/

..........the Artega SE has a price of over $208,000, twice that of the Tesla. Even the Europeanized Tesla has a starting price of about $120,000.

I guess this car holds the argument of the FFR template back to the old stock seat (butt height) argument.

I just had to see it, numbers alone don't cut it.

I do like the squished roof look, but also think the design is strong enough to suffer through the roof being raised a few inches.

Call Dave, it works! I really hope FF goes more toward this style of car, it would look so good.

Would you rather have an Artega GT for $117,000, or an Exige for $72,000? (Or less?)

i would take the 818 that resembles either at $15,000.

I think the issue for Dave is 1) legal implications and 2) taking his company to another level.

To point 1), I don't think Dave wants to go thru the legal process of defending his products again. He may have won both times that a certain auto legend sued F5, but at a cost of a reported $1million spent in legal fees, one could argue F5 still lost. Care to contribute to a legal defense fund?

To point 2), I think Dave is ready to take F5 beyond simply 'reproducing' other designs. Being a kitcar manufacturer, there is always a stigma, no matter how high the quality, and no matter what innovations are added under the 'skin'. Any kind of derivative design would be quickly picked apart, and easily dismissed as some existing design, but modified. The GTM is a perfect example.

That's why I believe that Dave has the difficult, but absolutely necessary job of finding a design that is both original/unique, but still HoF as he puts it (along with self-inflicted obstacles of being wookie compatible, and meets strict wheelbase and track specs, and....) :)

I like three of the designs you guys have been working on better than the above one and I even like Jim's silver car better. This must have such refined design nuances that I just can't appreciate them. NOT!!

I'm hoping that Dave comes up with something that will get my focus away from the D Coupe. I want a cheaper and easier build at this point in my life.

WEK.

I would love an 818 that looks as good as the Henrik Fisker designed Artega GT.
