Boyds tank, FFR sending unit won't work

Got the Boyds tank today, the sending unit I have wont work due to the orientation of the plate that's welded in the tank. The tank has it's own pick up tube so, are you supposed to use a different sending unit with these tanks? One that's just a sending unit and not a factory style sender/pick up/return? Anyone know what sending unit I can use?
