Seems its pretty tight there, not even sure carpet would fit inbetween. The dash hoop and body have a good 1/4 in. Treid moving body foward but no luck. Any suggestions ? Or leave it be ? I can file the lip a bit I guess

Not exactly sure as mine is a MKIII, and although tight, there was still room to tuck the carpet in slightly.

Could the MKIV new rear cockpit roll have something to do with it? It may not be related to what you are dealing with, but I seem to recall some saying they needed to trim some portion of the roll off.

It just so happens that I answered a PM last night regarding this and bulb seal placement. Don't know if you put bulb seal all the way across but here is where it is supposed to be:

I too found the bulkhead aluminum to be tight to the opening on the Mk4, and as Bill suggests suspect that the cockpit roll is the culpruit. I simply muscled it to bend it rearward above the horizontal square tube which then left clearance for insulation and carpet.

Cheers,
Jeff

Jeff, On a related area--what is the solution to the gap between the body and the door post where the latch receiver is. Gap right into the rear wheel well has me a little concerned.

Dean, do you mean this gap? You can make a piece that covers that gap.
