Can someone help me out with instructions for my wiper kit? I've had the kit for a while and lost the instructions.
BTW I'm a visual learner, does anyone want to post pics of their install and / or tips?
TIA!
:)

FFR posted the instructions on this forum: http://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?2399-Windshield-Wiper-Installation-Instructions-Roadster
Multiple threads on the other forum with pictures and tips. One of the most talked about subjects. A quick search will give lots of hits.
My biggest tip -- although I know not everyone will agree with me -- is lose the FFR wheel boxes and replace with the ones from **********. They are from a different source. Much higher quality and in my case went together with zero adjustment and work perfectly. I spent an entire weekend trying to get the FFR ones to line up and work well, and was not successful. Others have been though.

I'm sure the ********** boxes are probably better, I just "tweaked" mine (made sure the drive was engaging the gear well), and they worked out fine.
Good luck!

You are also better off not using the aluminum tubing throughout and instead use 1/2" plastic tubing with hose clamps which make adjustment much easier.

I found the soft copper tubing was another "better" choice for the wipers, than the aluminum. No problems with flaring the ends, such as some have had with the aluminum tubes. No fears of the material eventually breaking down from the grease reacting with it, which worried me about the use of plastic tubes.
Looks decent as well.

Another tip that you will often see builders suggesting is NOT to use the FFR provided black rubber spacers on the shafts, but to custom make some from aluminum tubing, or I have even seen square tubing used. The rubber ones can cause issues.

A Couple of questions:
http://www.**********accessories.com/catalog/images/WP%20Electric%20Plug.jpg
Does this part come with the kit or do I need to order one?
I see above that it looks like the rivets in the wheelhouse have been drilled out and re-secured with a locking nut and screw. Why?
Where can I get a switch with a parking function?

That motor connector plug never came with the wiper kit from FFR. It came with spade connectors. The plug certainly is a better idea. One of the vendors does sell the switch with the park option..Breeze perhaps??
I find for the very, very, rare time that I would need to use the wipers, I can simply use an Off-on-on toggle switch, time the wiper to be in the park position, and flip the switch..It's actually pretty simple:p
I read about using screws and nuts on the wheel box's, as there was issues with the original screws stripping the threads on the plate.
Are the new ones now using rivets?? How the heck can you open them, up to slip the tubes end flare in to them?

The pictures you have all included raises a question. I am getting ready to insrall my wipers and have other pictures as well that show the tubes for the wheel boxes either behind the post (as in up and to the rear) or in front of the post (as in lower and toward the front). Is there a reason? I know that the park switch ramp can be placed on either of two positions (180 degrees apart) on the main motor wheel so it really shouldn't matter as I can get to park at either end of the sweep.

The wipers should be installed with the tube in front of the wheel boxes. I didn't try it, but I've heard the tube would interfere with either the underside of the cowl or the firewall if installed with the tube on the back. Installed oriented as in this picture:

I used brake line tubing, which worked perfectly. This picture shows the aluminum spacer I made to replace the rubber tubing FFR supplies, as suggested previously. I used square tubing. Round also works. A mandatory improvement as for as I'm concerned. This also shows the ********** wheel box. Precision pieces.

The switch with the self park is available from **********. Gives two speeds and parking. Works exactly as advertised. It is a Lucas part, but mine has worked OK so far. The same function can be duplicated with other switches, relays, etc. But I went with the Lucas switch.

NAPA sells a decent wiper switch - Cole Hersee 75228-04, sells for about 20 bucks. . .
