Hi Guys and Gals,
I am helping a young man with his recently purchased (80% complete) MK2. I am wondering if the MK2s came with a side pipe hanger kit. There seem to be arms for a hanger kit in the parts that came with the car. Any pictures would be appreciated.
Thanks

From what I remember the side pipe mounts didn't change until the Mark 3s so I'm thinking yours are like my Mark 1.
They used a standard rubber hanger available from any auto parts store.
It looks like this. There are some more pics on my old web site. https://cobra.spintime.org/eng_install.html

Assuming the car has the original headers and pipes, you really don't need hangers. My MkII had no hangers when I bought it from the original builder and I thought about adding them. Then I was trying to get the pipes to hang closer to parallel to the ground. So I stepped onto the high pipe near the end thinking I surely could get it to drop 3/8". Well I bounced my 190# up and down on it and moved it maybe 1/4". Went to the low side and figured I would jack it up. Well heck I had the tires off the ground jacking the end of the pipe and never got that one to move. Had the car for 15+ years w/ no hangers.

My Mkll has side pipe hangers mounted using a rubber isolator similar to the picture above. The kit came with them and I put them on. Check the engine mounts are poly not the stock Mustang ones. The stock engine mounts are too soft and the pipes will move too much.
