So by switching to the solid Gordon Levy motor mounts I am looking to swap out my 7" deep Milodon pan for the 6.5" Aviaid. My question to those who have also installed the Aviaid pan if they kept with the stock location dipstick or swapped it out for the Aviaid-specific dip stick.

I guess my biggest worry is that sticking with the stock location dip stick will not necessarily be accurate or may interfere with the baffling.

I'm also open to any other products that people have used with success.

Thanks!

Brew,

You don't say if your dipstick location is at the front or the side of the block.

I just purchased an Aviaid pan for a small block (Windsor 347) and I found the pan rail covers the hole for the standard dipstick location (side of block) of the Boss302 block. I will have to use an alternate dipstick.

FYI

I have the Aviaid pan on my 427w. Used the standard dipstick located on the front passenger side. Seems perfect

Aviad has their own dip stick option. The 6.5" is a GT40 pan.

I should have clarified. I have a 427W on a BOSS block, the current dip stick is on the passenger side at the front of the engine, it passes through the timing cover.

Sounds like your situation is 1:1 for mine. When you say on the front, does yours pass through the timing cover as well?

I was looking at 155-55363, which is the Daytona Coupe Pan.

I saw Aviaid's dip stick option and it actually looks pretty slick (especially since it goes into the side of the pan itself so I don't even need to worry about interference with the block). I guess that begs the question, how difficult is it to pull out the old dip stick (which appears pressed into place) and seal up that hole.

The FE guys run into this all the time. The hole is easily sealed with a small freeze plug. The hard part is finding one. They are available but most parts stores don't carry the assortments like they used to. The small cup type core plugs seem to work better, again, the trick is finding them. Try to find the oldest machine shop in your area, they may still have their Dorman/Edelmann cabinet that you can look thru
