Folded/bent transmission rubber ring seal

Hello. I removed the plug from the end of the transmission to check fitment of the drive shaft.

After removing the plug I noticed the rubber seal inside is bent inward. Probably pushed and folded in when the plug was installed. Will this cause leaks/problems?

It might look like it's cut or something else is going on in the photo, but I can confirm that lip it's folded inward.

If that's a donor tranny, I'd just replace the seal. Something like this is cheap, and much easier to do now than later.

Thank you, Greg! It's a brand new engine and TKX (I believe) from FFR. If seal replacement is the best option, hopefully they'll send me one.

The link says "press in design", so just pull the current one out?

I assume so, yes. I'm sure there are others here that have done it.

Tremec is sending me a new seal. They said better to change it just in case.

Guys, I think Mat1.. pulled the plug(rubber sleeve) AND dust shield shown in this screenshot of a Tremec install manual.
I think gbranham’s LMR picture is the dust shield LRS-7052B. Mat1… is your picture a seal inside both the rubber plug and dust seal, actually at the rear output shaft? If so, is that what Tremec is sending?198642

Hi Bud. I only pulled out the rubber sleeve, or what Tremec calls a shipping plug. My photo just happens to be at an angle that the flange of the dust sleeve is perfectly head on and not noticeable. The dust sleeve is still attached and intact, except for the area I highlighted. It's the interior of this dust sleeve that is folded over. There are no other seals. Tremec is sending the same part that Greg linked to, but it's their own version.
