What vendor sells the Hinged Hood kit? It looks like its alot more solid that way.

Dave - I'm not building yet, so take this with a grain of salt, but from what I've researched on this subject myself, Breeze has a set-up that everyone seems to like. item #35201/#35249 over @ Breeze. And if you're going with that hinge, then check out item #35388 radiator cover. They are compatible and it really dresses up the engine compartment. No doubt these guys will eventually be supporting vendors here too... Nice people.

David, I think the complete kit comes with the factory five hinge as well. Can't recall though if it was redesigned with the MKIV or not.

Not sure if you'd be willing to drive that far north (for paint) or not, but Ken Pike (Streetrodpainter) in Yuba City can provide a vintage style hood hinge system as an add-on to his paint packages that is second to none. He bonds in a reinforcing hoop to the hood as well which precludes the warping issue some have complained about when using the FFR supplied hinge gas struts.
Just one more idea to consider before you spend your money. I ended up selling my (optional) FFR hood hinge kit when I saw what Ken had to offer.

I like the MKIII hood and hinge kit.
Mine is a MKII with the MKIII hood and hinge kit.

Scott is correct; the complete kit includes the FFR hinge (Mk4 hinge is the same as Mk3). It doesn't look period correct but functions well. Some people have complained that they can be a little tedious to get adjusted, however I did not have any great difficulty.

no, Im talking about the part that conects both hinges and makes it more stable and secure, you can tell when its been put on by the rivits going across the front of the hood.

David, any pics??? All the cars I have seen the rivits on the hood are cosmetic, not functional.
I believe both the Breeze and FFR newer hinge work well, though the Breeze one mounts across the front near the top of the radiator, but that doesnt sound like what your talking about.
