Hi members,

Nice to meet y'all and I am looking forward to joining this wonderful community. I am planning to buy a pre-built FF MK4. I Hate to admit ( but also self aware) I am not a builder. I live in Norther Californina and I found this beautiful Mk4 with a dealer in South California. I wanted to your input on few things-

1: Car is 2020 built, registered as replica with Texas title. I have read stories about registration and SB100. Dealer said they will do the paperwork and give me a clean title and registration and will do the DMV work. Does that sound right? What should I be aware of?

2: Here's the pic of the engine and details from dealer-

Factory Five Mark IV build completed in 2020
1000 Original Test Miles
5.0L fuel injected Ford Racing V-8 engine
Tremec T5 5-speed manual transmission
Finished in Gray with a Black interior
Serpentine belt system
Chrome roll bar
Simpson seatbelts
Halibrand style knock off wheels
Replica title branding
Titled as a 2020 Assembled Vehicle

Is this a good engine?

3: Do you know/ recommend any expert who can do the car inspection for me in Souther California?

4: Is there a checklist or what are the things I should be checking before buying?

Thank you all for your help!

Absolutely! Contact Frank Maslowski, known as “Frankeeski” and “I.E.427” here on the forum. Stellar builder who knows these cars as well as anyone. None better!

A "Dealer" can NOT register an SPCNS vehicle in CA. only the owner/builder. If I were to build your car, you would have to be the one to register it and claim that you built it. Any dealer telling you that they can register the car for you is not registering it as an SPCNS vehicle. Therefore, if it were to be found out it was not registered properly, the car could be impounded.

I believe I had an inquiry about that same car a month or so ago. Was that you and your father? Possibly the other potential customer backed out.
