Hey guys. So, the mkII I bought apparently had an efi 5.0 mustang engine with a manual trans before i bought it. I purchased it without engine and trans. I'm in process of putting a 351w in mated to a tko500. Question is, what are these connections for around the transmission area and do i need them. I was at least going to try hook up reversing lights. Thanks197885

My guess is that they are for three possible things. A reverse, a neutral safety switch, and an electric speedometer

Thanks for the reply. I actually have an electronic speedo. That is a totally separate piece that i haven't added in pic.
I was wondering that it is some of what you said but not sure which is which

Yup, Reverse light, Neutral Safety Switch. Electric speedo will come from the speedo sensor hole or at least I think so. A mechanical plug or electronic sensor is used as necessary.
Previously I ran a mechanical Smiths speedo but never hooked up the NSS or RL.

From the manual: Electrical Connectors
There are three connectors on the TKO transmission: 1) neutral start switch, 2) Back-up light sensor, 3) speedometer pick-up. The neutral safety switch can be used to prevent the car from being started while in gear. The pigtail located on the rear of the transmission is an open circuit until the transmission is placed in neutral. The back-up light sensor is on the driver side of the transmission case and is an open circuit until the transmission is shifted into reverse. The electronic speedometer pick-up is located on the rear-extension passenger side.

Brilliant. I probably won't connect up the nss either.
So do you know which one is the reverse switch connector ?
This is a pic of what i have for the autometer speedo
