View Full Version : Clearance Question for Overflow tank

I got a canton tank for my overflow, the factory supplied did not fit well and with all the concern about under size, did not want to work to hard to make it fit. I want to attach the new one to the F-panel per this photo, I can not see any clearance issues but missing parts for assembly of my hinge and not sure how the shock on the support rods will impact this area. Any feed back appreciated.

I installed mine in the same location w/o any issues.

I'm curious about how you adapted the tank flanges to the F-panel (since it has a "twist" to it top-to-bottom)? Spacers or washers? Bend the flange tabs?
Thanks for the feedback!

I was planning on spacers or weld a bit to the frame that is not twisted.

Photos if they help. Looks like I stuck in a stainless spacer from Ace in the lower rear.
After going through 3 power steering reservoirs to get 1 that didn't leak at an aluminum weld, I would stay away from bending the tabs.

Thanks, that is pretty much what I planned. I hate how the holes in the tank flange are behind the sight tube. I may end up with a nutsert in the tank flange and button head screwing in from the wheel side.

I put mine in the center to avoid this issue.

I wasn't following your comment, so I went out and checked to see what I did. I get you. But a 1/4-20 x 1/2" BHCS can get in there, and the ball end of the needed 5/32" hex wrench will barely fit. Photo to make sure we're talking about the same thing. Hope that helps.

Nice clean setup, Ted! 60F and clear today ... first opportunity in a while to make up an errand or two :)
