Holy ****. Driveshaft shop quoted me $1200 for a dual CV driveshaft going from the IRS to a TR6060. This is a custom application for an LT1/TR6060. But my god that seems extremely high.

I'd choke too.
Why do you need or want a dual CV driveshaft. I've thought about that, but 2 u-joints works well.
My driveshaft was $350 but I supplied the flanges, yokes and u-joints. Would have been about $500 without.

I could have gotten a new set of axles for my 818 straight from FFR for under $500. I ponied up and paid Driveshaft Shop $1,600 because the FFR axles broke and peace of mind.
There are surly cheaper options, but we all know the saying about getting what you pay for...
I don't keep track of how much this hobby cost.

What’s shocking me is that only 4 years ago I paid 850 for TWO half shafts to go from my G96 to Camaro wheel hubs with double CVs. I’m for sure going to shop around more and get different opinions on if I need dual CV, 1 CV and u joint etc. This driveshaft works is a bit foreign to me

Call Denny's Driveshaft and get a quote from them. I had them make a 3 1/2 inch dia aluminum driveshaft with integral slip joint to connect to my 6R80 and 9 inch rear. In 2019, about $800 and the quality is excellent. Get a second opinion as that is what I like to call the FU price, and that does not mean fool us. The FU price is when a vendor or subcontractor is really telling you they don't want to do the work, but if you are willing to pay them crazy money, they will do the job!

I emailed dennys and they said they couldn’t do it.
Might give them a call though.

I called Denny's last fall (2023). I did purchase the u-joints and yokes from them a few years ago.
They didn't want to build my driveshaft, too short. 5.25" on the u-joint centers.

I give these guys a call https://www.jointclutchandgear.com/driveline.html
They do alot of the custom drive shafts for the OEMs here in detroit but will build for the private market and are really reasonable. Used them a couple of times.

Denny's has a 1350 yoke which removes adapters and allows for slightly longer driveshaft.

Just to close this out. Ended up talking with driveshaft shop again and swapping a few parts. This brought the price down. It will still be dual CV which should eliminate any worry about angles and vibration.
