Has anyone modified the rollcage bars left and right side by driver and passenger's head and bow them up or out to give a little more room?

How much room is there to do this? I don't have the ability to mount my body as it's in storage and I just don't like how my head almost rests on the side roll cage bar by the roof....I think I saw a thread where someone did this but can't find it.

Also if anyone can take a picture for me of how this bar relates to the roof I'd greatly appreciate it. If memory serves it's fairly close to the side of the body at the A-pillar, but there might be some room to bow it out toward the rear. I also think the roof sits a couple inches above this area and there might be room to bow it up toward the roof if that makes sense.

Appreciate any help.

My buddy Chris (AKA Gumby) sought more headroom and easier entry & exit for his Gen2 Coupe:

on my Gen 3 there is just over an inch clearance. but its really hard to tell if its a true inch or not. The roof body lines curve inwards/downwards the closer you get to the door. you could cut and move them inwards but that would only get your head closer to the newly installed bar. I like what Jeff posted above but that was on a Gen 2. The Gen 3 already has a set of bars in that location, small diameter. Could be a swap out. smaller bars to a the larger bars.

I too bonk my head on that bar when sliding into the seat. need to get more flexible or duck more :)

Moving the bars to the inside is a great idea. I built one of the first coupes and was forever wacking my head on the bar. One of the primary reasons I ended up selling the car (also I wanted to build a GTM).

I modified mine. Cut out the old ones, bent the new ones, and moved them up probably 1.5-2 inches.

Ahhh it was your car I saw this on. Thanks for the photos - moving and bowing them up a bit shouldn't interfere with the roof or door...Thanks for the photos Brent

I got the tubing from Alcobra Metals. It was the cheapest place I could find.
