View Full Version : 1st body fit is door latch area ok?

Today I did first placement of the body. I found that when I checked how well the side pipes would line up, the header are not even from side to side. The driver side of the engine sits about and inch lower than the passenger side at the end of the headers. I will just teak that a bit. Shouldn't be to hard to get a 1/2 inch of movement at the end of the headers.

Looking at the front wheel lips I can see I will have to move the outriggers just a bit to the passenger side just as many have before.

I would like to know about the body at the door latch location. How much in front of that is the body supposed to sit? I have to do a bit of trimming at the cowl where it meets the dash. That alone should get me where I need to be I believe.

Overall I am happy with how close everything is on 1st fit check.

Just let me know if I am missing anything here or any other advice.

Thanks, Bill

Good to go Bill! Remember to raise the nose about 1/2-5/8" or so above the end of the square tubes where they angle down toward the bumper mount plates.

Yes, I already had put a section of rubber hose in there for the test fit, is it ok to just permanently attach it with a screw to the frame rail there?

Edit. I just saw that the one posted just has extra foam weather strip.

That's not foam, it's hard rubber and yes I run a couple of screws through it. you can do it or I will.
