I've seen the plain, or clear coated aluminum louvers and body color, but who's color matched side louvers to the stripe (or even pinstripe) colors?

edit: my stripe color will be silver, so it will just be a different shade of silver/aluminum :)

If you want people to just see your louvers then paint them a different color. The human eye will keep going back to them. IMHO but thats just me...da bat
I had mine powder-coated to match the stripe.

yeah, I'm going silver, so I figured it wouldn't be much of a difference like yours...

I agree with silver it doesn't look out of place, but imagine a silver car with red stripes and red louvres? I think that would look odd.

I like the SS / polished aluminum look. Body color would be OK, but too much "bling" would get obnoxious.

Plenty of them with blacked out louvers when doing the chrome delete. Just look at any of the Backdraft RTB3/RTB4 series and you will get some good reference images. This is one I saw a while back which has accent color matched louvers:

I suspect it has a lot to do with the color combination. I think it looks pretty good with the black and gray on mine.

Here's a recent photo of mine but I photoshopped the louvers in. All trim will be black, matching the stripes.
Edit: I'll also have black louvers in the hood.

Not my cup of tea, but that's the great thing about these cars. You make them what you want.

I painted my louvres black to see if I like it. If I do I will powder coat them over next winter. If not sandblast and sharkhide them.

I agree with Papa. The way I look at it is if it makes you happy, then who cares what others think. It's called your dream car for a reason. I say dream big.

My louvers are painted to match the hood stripes and the side stripes. Seems to blend in.

Matched it to the Stingray gills on the car I bought instead of the Cobra in 1967.

Todd,
I did not, because they are basically the same color. However, I am thinking about removing them and powder coating them clear. In 3,000 miles, I am noticing they are tarnishing (very slightly) and getting dirty. I think the PC will help keep them in better condition.

Seems to me painting louvers can look really good or really bad depending on your color choice. That Backdraft roadster was an insult!

I powder coated mine with a chrome powder. You do need to top coat with a clear powder to add protection and UV stability. I used Prismatic Powders Super Chrome Plus and Clear Vision. Still need to work on my technique for two layer powder coating. The chrome powder coating goes well with the polished GasN side pipes.
