Anyone with a hood should consider adding this upgrade, i.e., an emergency hood latch release.

Here's the link to by build thread page 6 with the upgrade and how I did it. There may be other options.... but this one is cheap and easy.

Looks like a good idea. Thanks for sharing to a wider audience (I don't usually follow truck builds - too many issues that are unique to the truck, despite all the similarities to the Hot Rod).

I looked into this when I did my build, and ended up figuring out I can easily go through the furthest back port hole in both engine side panels and trip the hood release if needed.

Jim, You must be very flexible! Even with NO engine side covers, my hood latch has a SS cover on it preventing any easy access to the latch arm (especially with the Coyote engine)... therefore why I did what I did. See pic below

In my 50+ years of driving I have never had a hood release cable fail. My Speedstar will be kept in a garage, will only be driven occasionally and in good weather. The chances of the cable failing even more remote than all my daily driven vehicles. This not something I am going to worry about.

Mine is modified and does not have the SS cover any more. It's in storage until May but I'll tag this string and send picas at that time.
