Hello All, I have a set of aluminum spats for sale. These will fit a FFR MK IV.
They are not polished, painted or powdered coated. They are unfinished. They will need some minor fitment to fit your car. They are about 90% done.
I have found each body is slightly different, so they have the overall shape and curve, but will need some minor adjustments to be perfect to your car.
Very nice quality. .075" thick. You can adhere them to your car via SCS 1000 silicone or some guys bolt or rivet them in place. The 3 photos of the unfinished spats are the actual spats. The other two photos are from other cars-one riveted, one silicone in place. $215/pair delivered. Sorry the photos are sideways....I can't figure out how to rotate them. Hey Martin,

I got my spats from you today! Thank you for shipping so quickly. They look great!! They do need a little trimming and a little more shaping for the curves. Do you have an recommendations on shaping them a little more tighter around the top? I currently have them mounted with clamps, but I think they'll just spring back once I release the clamps.

Thank again,

Ted

This sounds like an opportunity for me to get an English Wheel...maybe one of those desktop sizes? :)

I had one when I had my car shop, you can do amazing things with them. Including pinching your fingers like nothing else can!

I think a shot bag and mallet would do the trick.

I purchased an english wheel off of Amazon for $99. Yes, it's a cheap one but with a little manipulation and practice, it worked pretty darn good. I purchased these spats pre-formed, but they definitely needed more curve, especially near the bottom outer edge. With a little more bend and some trimming, I think they look pretty good.

Initial fitment shows a pretty large gap between the inner edge of the spat and the body wall (arrow pointing to this). After initial trimming and a little english wheel work, I felt it was a pretty good fit, but still not perfect.

More manipulation with the English wheel and some fine trimming, I felt the fit was good. You may be able to see in the picture of the driver side spat (left), some markings from the wheel. Those marking need to be removed for sure.

I started out with sanding with some 240 grit, then sanding with medium scotch brite pads and moving on to 800, 1000, 1500 grit sandpaper. This took some time to get the marking out.

After sanding, and polishing, the spats needing a bit more manipulation. I think the heat from polishing distorted them a little bit. A little more sanding and polishing was needed. Once I thought it was as good as I could get, I added some 3M HVB double sided tape (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09G63579Q?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details) to the back side. I made sure the tape went right to the edge so that debris from the road would not be able to enter the small gap between the paint and the spat.

Finally, I mounted the spat with a few (lots) of clamping. I protected the polished side with plenty of blue tape so not to mar up the polish and that worked pretty good. I used a heat gun to warm up the paint and spat a bit as I believe the bond would be better with a little heat added. I kept the clamps on for about 24 hours as advised.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with the results. It's been raining a lot here in Nor Cal recently, so I haven't seen this in the sun just yet, but here is a picture in my garage of the finished product.
