Coupe rear hatch alum. floor removal

Ok , so what's the trick to getting out the hatch / rear floor alum. panel out ????

Bow it...............alot!! Finese it too.

If your frame is powder coated you may want to wrap the roll bar posts so that you don't scratch them. It's an awkward piece to move in and out.

Both the above correct, it does get easier once you learn just how to bow it correctly.

Once I got it out I cut it in half...right down the middle. I must have put it in and taken it out 50 times while doing the modes to the back hatch area. If I had to bend that thing every time I would have committed suicide a long time ago. Because my frame was already powder coated I didn't want to weld in brackets so I bolted in some aluminum brackets to allow for riveting the split half's in. I highly recommend going this and I also recommend to don't rivet it in until you have the body back on and painted. That way you can get to the suspension, fuel and electrical that lurks under that panel.

Amen to that Chris!!!. I just welded a flat bar in place and did the old gloss black rattle can trick. Once assembled no one knows you violated the powder coat. I also put an access cover in to get at the gas tank. On the left side I built a box about 4" deep and 18" x 18" +/- for storage.

I used a ratched strap with the ratched on the bottom. Like others said if your frame is powder coated tape some card board around the tubes to protect the finish. After a few times I became an expert in putting this in and out. Of course by the time you get good at it your done;)

Here's what it looks like after I had the aluminum powder coated. I'm going to leave the bottom in clecos until after the car is painted. I'm sure I'll need to get under there for one thing or another.
