Hey All,
I have a 302 with EFI, my alternator has a 4 pin female connection built in to the alternator case. I am using the FFR supplied Ron Francis harness with 2 wires for alternator, one brown with ring terminal and one red non-terminated. Does anyone have a work around to connect the 2wire harness to the 4 pin alternator connection?
Thanks,
Ross

Picture plus as much info about the alternator as you know. Didn't come with any instructions are pin-out descriptions? Your four wires are likely some combination of exciter and indicator light. Plus ? Lots of variations.

Alternator didn’t come with any instructions. I’ll go back to engine builder.

Yeah, can't find anything with those part numbers. You need the pinouts of that connector. Almost for sure one of them is an exciter that uses +12V ignition source to switch on the regulator. Some aftermarket alternators don't need it.

Thank you for looking for an answer.
This is a Forte engine I wonder if anyone else who he built a Forte engine had this problem and found a solution.

Yes I have been planning to call Mike. Just thought someone might have run into the same issue.

So I have the exact same alternator from Forte. When I wired my alternator I didn't use that connection at all. I wired it as a one-wire alternator from the single "red" connection point on the underside.
Not sure if that helps or not but wanted to chime in as a fellow Forte engine owner.
At the risk of answering your question with a question - do you have a particular reason why you think you do need to use it?

Ohh wow, I feel like a dummy, engine still in crate so I haven’t looked at the bottom of the alternator. I have started to run the wiring getting ready for engine install and noticed the 4 pin connector. I still may talk to Breeze as rich gsrc sugested. Thanks Brew City!

No problem at all, I looked into it at first too. If I remember correctly (and don't quote me on this) that those four connectors may be a diagnostic port of something to that extent. But yeah, I'd be curious to know what Breeze has to say - but so far I haven't had any issues with the one wire setup.
