The manual says to trim the bottom of the trans (MIV), does that still hold true? Don't want to cut unless I need to.

Yes You have trim the bottom of the trans

I had to trim mine. However, I put a couple of spacers in the tranny mount to get the diveshaft into the rear diff angle more level. This gave me more room at the tail of the tranny.

You might also need spacers that fit between the tranny mount and the frame below it to level the drive-train.
