View Full Version : Side Pipe Hangers - Coyote

I am about ready to go kart my kit with a coyote and the 5 speed.

I put the side pipes on but the hangers almost touch the bottom of the square tubing beneath the car (photos below). They also appear to sit at an angle to the frame. I obviously don't have the body on. I have a couple of questions

1. Is it OK to go kart without the hangers attached? I have heard a lot of stories about cracked side pipe and think this would cause extra stress.

2. Do the photos below seem "normal" for spacing etc.

3. Any ideas for how to mount the hangers? It wont work how the manual has shown.

Thanks in advance

i wouldn't worry about it until after the body's on. you might need a few wedges from Breeze to move the pipes in a bit.
I go-karted plenty of miles without the hangers on.

The famous go-kart... Yes, wait until the body is on before making any decisions or adjustments for your side pipes. For the go-kart, yes OK to run without the hangars. But (hopefully...) you're talking about low speed low impact just making sure it moves and stops under it's own power, e.g. up and down your street a few times. Some of these get way carried away (my opinion...) and bring a lot of unnecessary risk to you and your build. Good luck.

Thanks for the responses. I am just looking to put some miles on the machine by driving my local roads to ensure it operates as I expected before finalizing the body.

Any ideas for final attachment?

You really won't know until the body is on. It will likely take some combination of spacers and edges (available from Breeze) to get the side pipes into the correction locations. I've had to use them on every build.
