View Full Version : No trans mount for the LS builder?
Yesterday I discovered that FFR doesn't include transmission mounts for the LS builds (complete kit), confirmed by a few other MkIV builders and a Coupe builder. It's not on the inventory list and certainly not in any box. But the SS bracket is included??
But why? It doesn't make sense. Funny considering that most LS builders use the same mount that FFR otherwise provides.
I'll ask FFR tomorrow when I call them with a technical question, but maybe someone here has a guess or answer. Or better yet, maybe I'm wrong and it was just a packaging/inventory miss.
Not a huge deal, just strange.

Take a look at the offerings from Chris Alston's Chassis works. This is the GM side of their business. Here is a link to an example of one of their offerings. I would suggest that they make something you can adapt to your Factory Five as these kits are meant for custom installs.

Terry,
A little confused here by your question as I was originally going to build an LS3 in my MK4 until parts became an issue for the engine. What transmission are you using? zip using a TKX-5 the transmission mount hardware should have been in Box 7. The part numbers were as follows:
17105 Transmission Mount/Hardware
15439 t-5/TKO/TKX Trans Mount Plate 1.0
16639 PWDR Trans Bolt-On Mount. 1.0
If you are using something else, then you are correct that FFR does not supply those parts.
Hope this helps
Bill

Bill, yes I'm using a TKX and my box 7 inventory list is just as you list. Unfortunately neither of those items are the actual transmission mount, which is typically included in the engine mount box (but not for LS builds).

NOTE:.. They didn't have engine or transmission mounts nor headers or even the drive shaft for my build either but all I can say is:

FWIW, LS3 + T56 Magnum = Energy Suspension 4.1104G Transmission Mount and a 1/2" aluminum spacer
I did have to modify the FFR mount plate.
Thanks Bruce!

I checked my inventory list and dug around in various boxes. Nope, no trans mount.
Did you contact FFR? Any response?
Any idea on the Energy Suspension part number for LS3 and TKX?
I did contact FFR and the tech person I talked to is confirming whether LS builders should receive a trans mount. I'll update the thread when I find out.
Factory Five included the transmission mounts in my '33 hot rod kits using LS drivetrain. Odd that does not carry over in the Roadster kit.
