View Full Version : What is an Aluminum fitment

Installed the fuel tank. Manual said dont tighten the passenger strap as it has to be loose for an aluminum fitment later on. What is that?

The strap passes through the lower trunk floor. Instead just trim the hole bigger so the aluminum will clear it. I will be obvious when you get to that point.

What Mike said. I remember them talking about that in build class. Makes it a lot easier to install your trunk floor.

I was wondering about this too. When I put my tank in, I just said screw it and tightened away, figuring that if I need to loosen or remove it, it’ll be easier to reattach now that I’ve got the strap bent and aligned into place.

You can cut off the unused upper tab (it's for S197 tanks) then bend up a little aluminum thingie and cover the whole works with carpet ;)

When you bend up your aluminum thingie, be sure to make the thingie wide enough to remove the bolt so you can drop the tank later.
