Has anyone tried to incorporate a hood opening in one of these cars in lieu of the tilt front end I am planning on running the front spoiler so I just thought it would be interesting to maybe be do a hood instead of a tilt

I have been around for a while and have never seen that done. It would be a lot of bodywork to a body that already needs a lot of it. Honestly the tilt hood and the access it allows is one of the best things about the car.

A while ago the Doughertys incorporated, if I recall correctly, BMW pivoting hood hinges into the pivot to allow the hood to open with the air dam in place. It was on John George's Gen 3 coupe and there is a build thread showing it buried somewhere in this forum.

The Coupe-R in Thailand has the removable hood section.

While my Coupe's not using the FFR Type 65-R Air Dam, the mentioned BMW articulating hinge seems to be an excellent solution for those who do.

I mocked it up several months ago for nearly the same reasons (engine bay access with a spoiler/splitter installed) and to give myself more options with rad tunnel ducting. I haven't brought myself to cut the hood yet as I have not finished the design of the 4 bar linkage that opens the partial hood in a workable fashion yet. I worked on a early 90s buick a while back that had this odd front latch but reverse opening hood that I am trying to duplicate (test) before cutting into the hood. Tried a number of different lines, not sold on any of them yet.

I think I will look at doing the same hinge setup I had on my Cobra very simple and easy
