Hi all,
I have an MK4 with the standard Factory Five back brakes on an 8.8 differential.
I’m looking at trying to install the Wilwood Electronic Parking Brake.
Has anyone installed one?
If so, which model and bracket did you end up using?
I would like to get rid of the cables.
Thanks

I used the Wilwood bracket with the wilwood brakes, you will most likely have to swap L/R sides to clear the springs - the EPB is amazingly strong :)

I've done the same as toadster. And I had to swap the left and right for the reasons he describes. They appear to work really well (my frame is still on stands) and I like the noise they make when the motors run. I have EPB on my C8 Vette and they are strong. I did not want to deal with cables, ratchets and all of that. I also cut the parking brake brackets off my frame (Coupe) to give me more room to run my fuel lines.
The wiring harness and "brain" and switch have a lot of wires and need to be cut down - the harness has enough wire in it to fit in a Lincoln Continental. I also eliminated the inline fuse in the control circuit and ran it through a second fuse box. There is a 5amp fuse in the control circuit (power to EPB brain) and a 40amp in the wires running to the motors on the brakes. So you replace dealing with cables with dealing with quite a bit of wiring.

Make that three of us. I actually originally installed the manual parking brakes provided with the FFR wilwood kit for the 8.8 IRS and swaping to the wilwood electronic parking brakes was a 1:1 swap aside from the one caveat (As described already) of swapping the sides around so the electric calipers will fit.

I have a few pictures and description of how I did the electrical/switch/calipers/etc. in my build thread: https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?38979-The-Brew-City-Cobra-427W-IRS-Dead-Pedal-Install&p=528334&viewfull=1#post528334

I have installed one of their retrofit kits. I had a Wilwood brake system on the rear of my car already which makes the installation easier as I had to make the EPB caliber mounting bracket and a spacer pair for each side. I installed by EPB about 2 years ago, so an early adopter of the product. Wilwood may have more parts available today to make the install easier.
The key consideration is that Wilwood has two retrofit kits, one for a 0.81 thick rotor and one for a 1.25 inch thickness rotor. First measure the thickness of your rotor to see if either kit would support your non-Wilwood rotors. Going from there, you have to commit to buying one of the kits in order to plan the install and make the necessary parts. If the EPB does not work with your rear brakes, you will have to return the kit or be stuck with it. I would suggest you buy the kit from a vendor like Summit Racing that has a liberal return policy so long as you have not damaged the EPB parts in any way.
Here is a link for the installation on my 70 Mustang restomod.

Be sure that you have a good drill press and band saw capable of cutting up to a 1 inch thick piece of aluminum. I used T6 aluminum for the spacer. I would use T5 for the spacer and T6 for the bracket if I were to do it again. A one inch thick piece of T6 is tough to cut and shape and you need to do it twice. I went through 2 band saw blades in the process.
Good luck
