Has anyone used this for their dash? looks like I added another 55.00 to my build and another wiring item outside the box.

seems like a good option, I know some guys have implemented dimmers and like the results!

Just ordered one with a new speedhut gauge set. I've not tested yet but will bench set-up in the next few weeks.

Also ordered the equivalent version made by Classic Instuments for the roadster as I've found the LED gauges to be a tad too bright for night driving. Looking forward to having the dimmer option

what's the purpose for that, just have brighter lights during the day?

According to the instructions, there is 1 setting for when the headlights are off and 1 setting for when the headlights are on. Both settings can be changed.

I got a dimmer on amazon. Looks like the same thing, worked, but after I completed my dash I went "in a different direction" and started over from scratch.

I ended up ordering one but haven't finished my dash wiring yet to provide any comparison pictures. I did a mock up and lighting test of my speedhut gauges and found the lights to be pretty bright. I got the promotional email announcing the dimmer a couple weeks later and figured the timing was perfect. I did do a quick test when I got it and liked the result. If I remember correctly there are 6 levels of brightness. It's as simple as hitting the button till you hit the desired brightness both with the lights on and off and it'll save each respective setting as it has a constant battery feed. Below is an example of my gauges without the dimmer and how bright the default setting is. Bad picture but you can see how much those LEDs bleed on the white background of the gauges at that intensity

Has Speedhut changed their design? On my gauges, the backlight level is controlled by the F5-provided headlight switch. The needle light level is controlled by a Speedhut-provided dashpot.

Yes, what you're describing is the older electroluminescent (EL) lighting that Speedhut used to use. They've switched to LED backlighting now.

I just placed my order for all 7 of my Speedhut gauges, and I purchased this dimmer, too. I'm excited to start laying out my dash. For those with experience with Speedhut LED gauges, the FFR-supplied Ron Francis harness, and a Coyote (mine will be Gen3), what hurdles will I have? I assume the Speedhuts are as plug and play as my kit-supplied AutoMeter Platinums would be?

Thanks,

Greg
