I am starting the process of putting my order together, I was wondering about other brake options other than the Wilwoods, but something comparable. I want new parts , I was wondering what other people have used in replacement of the Wilwoods. I was looking at something like the Powerstop Brake kits.

the Following is from a thread of mine That I posted about a year ago. the link may be dead but the parts are still available.
These parts are for the 10.5 rear brakes of a late 90s base Mustang GT. what I bought is all new parts.
My rear brakes on a budget
my 8.8 is a fox width (79-93) SO:
considering I'm planning on using 15 inch wheels and the weight of the vehicle is so light I'm going with the 10.5 disc brakes
I bought the following
Offset Brake brackets : $99.95 https://www.ebay.com/itm/324449514582 Vey nice workmanship on the brackets
Rotors and pad set : $82.64 https://www.ebay.com/itm/17358285061...Bk9SR9jv6_e4YQ
Calipers and brackts: $88. https://www.ebay.com/itm/175549176547
Not counting the cables $270.59 so far.

Post what you're planning for the rear suspension. Solid axle or IRS have different options.

Go IRS, and order a salvage yard takeout complete rear suspension with the brakes. You get brakes for free (w/ a working park brake) and doing it this way you can almost get IRS for free. Pair the IRS Mustang rear brakes w/ the standard FFR front brakes and you have a nicely balanced system.
I did exactly what Craig recommended and used a Foxbody body pedal box with vacuum assist and my brakes are great. All parts are easy to get and relatively inexpensive. I would do the same thing again if I built another.

I am using PowerStop front brakes specified for a 2000 Mustang Cobra - 13" drilled and slotted rotors, 2 piston calipers, metal pistons.

With the FFR Halibrand 18" wheel:

My rear suspension is IRS, so late model Mustang pieces will fit. These are the PowerStop rear brakes, specified for a 2019 Mustang GT, 13" rotors.

With 18" wheel:

Like others mentioned, the late model Mustang calipers have integrated parking brake and you can use Mustang parking brake cables, which are surprisingly inexpensive.
Your choice of wheels and rear suspension will impact your brake selection.

Sorry Paul. I should have specified IRS, probably the 18 inch wheels. By the way your Build thread is very informative and helpful.

Thanks Jeff , That is exactly the setup I was working towards. I was having a hard time figuring out the front brakes from Power Stop.

Thanks. Those threads are getting a little dated, but still giving. You have OE options as some have already described. I can't add anything. I went for the Wilwood option on my two IRS builds. Very high quality, work great, and I'm happy with the decision. But a pricey one for sure.

I'm running the stock 2000 GT brakes up front with 1995 Ford Explorer brakes out back.
This allowed my rotors to be roughly the same diameter (10.86-F vs 11.20-R) with the ease of replacement parts sourcing.
Since I don't road race, open track or auto-cross the car and they work just fine for the street.
My rear suspension is a Moser Trutrac-44 (Dana-44) 3-link solid axle.

Jeff did you purchase the front brakes separate , calipers, rotors etc.. I cannot find them as a whole kit with the 13" rotors.

Back in November, the PowerStop web site had kits with calipers and rotors under 1 part number. When I placed my order with Summit it was broke up into individual components (calipers and rotors).
For the fronts, PowerStop Kit KC1304D-26
For the rears, PowerStop Kit KC6812-26
I was able to use the front brake hoses, mounting bolts, and banjos from the FFR supplied brakes.
Since I declined rear brakes on my FFR order, I had to supply hoses, mounting bolts, banjos and banjo bolts.
The rear brake mounting bolts and banjo bolts were purchased from a local auto parts store for a late model Mustang. The PB cables from Rock Auto.

If anyone is still looking I am in the middle of specing out brakes and could not find the PowerStop Kit KC1304D-26 under a 2000 Mustang but when I brought the model number up on Summit it has them listed for 1994 to 1998 Cobra. They are actually for the rear. Jeff, obviously confirmed they work for the front and makes sense to have the bigger calipers up front.
Looks like these should work in the front also KC1304C-26. According to Jegs they are for Front: Ford Mustang 1999; Mustang 2001; Mustang 2004-2003

Does anyone know if the 2004 Mustang Cobra brakes with 13" roters will work with 17" Halibrand wheels

Are you referring to front or rear? I bought 2004 13" for the front and will be able to let you know in a couple weeks. Just finishing up with the rear suspension. I do have 18" Halibrand wheels but should hopefully be able to measure the clearance.

David, I assume you mean 2004 Cobra FRONT brakes? If so, yes they fit with 17” Halibrand wheels. I’m using the 2004 13” Front Cobra and 2015+ 13”Mustang GT Rear brakes with 17” Halibrands. The fronts fit without interference while the rears required some caliper filing. This is in my build thread.

Here’s a pic of my front wheel.

By the way, the car stops really quick with 13” brakes.

I used MSD racing slotted and drilled rotors and brakes. Reasonable price. Love em so much I put them on my GT-R also. DON'T just get drilled rotors! Everyone I've seen gets cracks.
