Hello gentlemen. I was ready to pull the trigger on the aforementioned rear brakes but I noticed in a photo from Fixit that you need to use a bracket that bolts to the spindle.

Well, I followed the FFR instructions and made the cut to the spindle between the two holes. So I cannot attach the bracket shown above as the hole where the bolt goes is gone.
Can I work around this?
Sorry I don’t have a pic of my spindle, I’m traveling. Thank you.

Check out post #29 in my build thread for how I worked around this issue. I’m sure there are better brackets you could use than I came up with—but it works.

not needed at all to install the mustang brakes. You are good.

Thank you, Mike. I am guessing the FFR supplied 13" IRS parking brake cables and flexible hoses won't work with the Mustang GT calipers, correct?
Thank you!

Both will work. The parking brake cable does need an adapter though. FFR has them.

The bracket you show is clamped on the OEM parking brake cable. If you want to use it you can easily tap the hole in the knuckle to 5/16-18 like this:

And use a 5/16 button head screw to retain it:

The Motorcraft PB cables are reasonably priced and easy to modify. This does not impact the installation of the Mustang calipers. The 18" FFR wheels clear the Mustang calipers.

I love the wealth of knowledge in this forum. I’ll get the adapter from FFR and stage the cable and see how I feel about using the bracket or not.
