I was just going through some extra sheet metal parts and came across the original drivers side footbox top. Seems that during transport the body was rubbing on the top panel and left some maring. What does the body look like when fitted over the 3/4" frame member on either side of the engine bay. Does the body sit on some dense foam and clear the edges of the frame or does the body lip wrap around the 3/4" frame member? I have looked for photos of this but I can not get a clear image of this.
I saw a post where someone modified their footbox top to where is sits flush with the bottom of the 3/4" frame member but this does not seem to be possible with the Mk4 unless I cut down the front "box bulk head" which I do not want to do.
I also want to mount my reservoirs here and I just want to make sure I do not run into issues later.
Pictures?
I went a little radical with my footboxes.
The enlarged aluminum footbox is hidden behind a layer of 10mm Pyrogel insulation and a layer of .050" mirrored stainless steel. Corner pieces are also of stainless steel to cover the Pyrogel insulation and to hold everything together. The stainless steel you see here still has the peel off protective plastic covering on it.
I think this is what you are talking about where the front top corner of the drivers footbox hits the lip of the fiberglass. I was told you just need to cut that little bit away. But, I had to be different and cut the front top part of the footbox down 3/4". It is steel and took a bit of grinding. It took me a while to do this as I wanted to be sure this did not impact anything I had not done yet. I don't know why FFR runs the top panel over the 3/4" tube. Maybe, I still have something to learn. I also wanted to be able to completely remove that top panel to give access to the interior of the drivers footbox. I have mounted the body to check this fit, remove the top cover, to build some custom pieces for mounting the body in the front and back and to check the mounting of the dash.

I also mounted three CNC fluid reservoirs from underneath the 3/4" tube to avoid that fiberglass lip.

All that being said, others/most have mounted their bodies without any problem. Some have just cut a bit of the fiberglass lip out of the way to make for a better fit.
