Would love to see the finished car. Reminds me of someone's recent build! HAHA.

Just kidding. That is my build, with help from the First Time builder. It is called Viridian Green an Aston Martin Racing color. Yes, a medium teal metallic. Ken and I (as his apprentice sanding slave) cleaned up the body using 3M HSRF, Featherfill and Slicksand then recently had the sealer, base coat and clear coat just completed by a local professional painter on Long Island. The body had the usual imperfections and needed some "massaging" to correct some asymmetry, but the final result looks perfect to my amateur eye. I am very happy to report. Now for some sanding and buffing after the Holidays and put her back together.

I am grateful for Ken's help on this build, something that was truly over my head. The mechanicals were not too much of a challenge; well, at least I got to go-carting after 2 years work on my complete package and much cursing and bruised body parts. But the body work? I know from the beginning I had to farm that out, but my options were limited. Finding someone with confidence and experience to do a good job on a Cobra in my part of Long Island quickly hit a dead end. The alternative was a send out to one of our familiar Body Finishing Gurus we all know on the forum. I was headed that way but wanted the job done sooner and wanted hands on with the "glass and putty" work. Ken saved me. Not only is he an encyclopedic wealth of knowledge, experience and technical skill, but a most generous person. I was happy he let me work along side him on the body. I learned a great deal, saved a bunch of moolah and took some pride in my minor hands-on contribution. I have gained great respect for artisans who work such beauty with their hands. I think there is black magic in doing good body work. I will be most proud to show her off this summer. I hope FFR holds another Open House. I'll be there.

Thanks for your comments. Ed Klein

Happy Holidays.

ED we used Slicksand and K2 primer not Featherfill. Thanks for the nice comments Ed. The shop that painted it is Scappy Auto Body in Hicksville. This is the 10th car he has painted for me. I have known the owner for 48 yrs and have worked several car together over the years. I used to paint my own cars before Urethanes required the use of a "real booth" . Most shops wont paint a car that you have done the body work on as they dont know the quality of the work. If a problem pops up later the customer will blame the paint not the work they did.

To Ken: Hah! I purposely gave the wrong names of the body fillers…..knowing you would correct me. Yeah.
In my mind they are all variations of Bondo!

To others. Thanks for kind words.
