I just got my trunk aluminum (with drop trunk) installed. I don't have the fuel pump hanger yet, but planning to go with the Pro-M unit. Questions:

1. How much more difficult is it to install the hanger after the tank is installed?
2. And even the the answer above is "no more difficult", are the AN fittings accessible once the tank is installed? There doesn't appear to be too much room for a wrench etc.

Ideally I would have installed the tank first, then the trunk aluminum. However the tank shield was POL and I had no idea when it would arrive (neither did FFR apparently). Of course I got the FedEx notification shortly after the last trunk rivet got pulled. :)

Thanks.

Honestly, although it can be done with the tank up in place it's much easier with the tank on the ground. It takes some twisting and turning and holding your mouth just right to feed the pump hanger assembly in through the hole while keeping it on the proper side of the baffle. If you have the option I'd hold off on installing the tank until after the hanger is in with the lines and fittings prepped.

Thanks Jeff, you confirmed my suspicions. What about the AN lines? Can they be installed/adjusted/tightened from the access hole?

You should leave enough slack in your lines so that you can install and tighten them before lifting the tank all the way up into it's final position.

I know I can get to mine through the access hole. I used the 340 l/hr in-tank pump from Forte, worked great.

Now while easy to do, make the access hole in the trunk floor larger.

This is the Pro M on my tank on Sunday, pretty accessible regarding the fittings. Regarding ease of installation. It's possible, but it's probably easier to just drop the tank first. You have to "modify" the opening (cut some material out to make it big enough to get the new return line through). I wouldn't want to wrestle with that on the frame.

IMHO, install/secure pump before install. Room for twisting/wrenches gets real tight as aluminum gets installed.

opened up my access hole to get better access at the AN junctions should I need to down the road.
