Hello,

Gen 3 coupe with LS427, want to double check on my plan to mount the power steering reservoir. From the builds i have seen none of them used the location i am planning on using. Starting to doubt my location choice, maybe i am overlooking some issues with that location?

Originally i planned to mount it next to the steering pump, but due to return AN10 line and sharp angle there is no way to route the return without a kink in the line. Most builds mount the reservoir alongside the brake and clutch reservoirs, but since i am running 2 separate brake reservoirs, there is no space for that..

Can you see any obvious problems with this setup i plan on using?

Thanks,

I don't see any, did you check hood clearance?

I did, clearance is ok, the reservoir is the same height as the brake and clutch reservoirs :)

Thank you.

Pictures can be deceiving but is there room to mount it in the triangle where the other reservoirs are offset front the two closest to the fire wall?

If i understand you correctly, you mean in the same space as the 3 reservoirs? The hoses for the other reservoirs are in the way and also below there is part of the frame directly below, so it would also be a problem.

I went ahead and mounted it as planned, and seems like it is a perfect fit and i am happy with it. The AN10 hose goes directly to the pump with no interference and the AN6 return line to reservoir has in my opinion has a nice route without any interference. The limiting factor was the AN10 braided high pressure line (i know high pressure line is only needed from the pump to the rack), it does not like to bend and is prone to kinks and due to the angle of the pumps outlet mounting it forward would make the line loop ~140degrees, and no mater how long the line is due to the angle it will kink. The kink is rather small, and doubt it would have any negative impact on the flow, but i didn't want to risk it.

Looking at this, i am thinking of mounting the coolant overflow tank in the same place on the passenger side. There is plenty of space and much easier to mount there, as the tank itself is very tall. Any thoughts?
